Introduction
GL 1940 is an ash less, non‑fatty, high viscosity surfactant additive.
GL 1940 is a polyisobutenyl succinic anhydride (PIBSA) derived from polybutene.
It is commonly used as an intermediate in the manufacture of oil soluble dispersants for lubricating oil applications and in the manufacturing of emulsifiers.
Formulation
GL 1940 is recommended for use at 3 to 14% wt in base oils.

Handling Maximum temperatures of 82 °C (180 °F) for handling and 49 °C (120 °F) for long-term storage are recommended. Ordinary precautions for handling concentrated chemicals and blending additives into base oils should be observed.
